Providence Medical Center has announced the successful completion of a baby wipes collection drive to support local families in need.

The collected items were presented to the Northeast Nebraska Community Action Partnership (NENCAP), a local organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for families in northeast Nebraska.

In addition to the donation, Providence Medical Center in partnership of NENCAP, hosted a car seat safety check-up event.

This initiative aimed to ensure local families have correctly installed car seats, promoting the safety and well-being of young children in the community.

Providence Medical Center is committed to the health and safety of the community.

Leslie Schulz, Social Services Director, shared that being apart of the Wayne Family Coalition along with NENCAP for Wayne County, they were able to assess the community's needs and found that diapers and wipes are in high demand and often hard to come by for some families.

Schulz brought the challenge back to the hospital as a service project for PMC employees and any community members who could help give back to others in need.

“Through our baby wipes collection and car seat safety check-up, we hope to provide tangible support and peace of mind to families in northeast Nebraska,” Schulz said.

The baby wipes collection drive ran in June and was met with overwhelming support from PMC staff. Multiple packages of baby wipes were donated.

NENCAP will distribute these essential items to families who need them most.

The car seat safety check-up was held on July 16. Jennifer Keller, Healthy Families Coordinator and Senior car seat technician, conducted the check-up, providing hands-on inspections and education on proper car seat installation to eight families. In relationship with NENCAP, this event is Providence Medical Center’s ongoing effort to enhance child safety and prevent injuries in partnership with NENCAP and support local families.

"Providence Medical Center extends its heartfelt thanks to all who contributed to the baby wipes collection and participated in the car seat safety check-up. The medical center looks forward to continuing its partnership with NENCAP and Wayne County Coalition and supporting community initiatives," Schulz said.
