With temperatures reaching into the 80s, low humidity and windy conditions, a large portion of northeast Nebraska has been placed in a Red Flag warning for this afternoon and into the evening.
Antelope, Boone, Cedar, Cuming, Dakota, Dixon, Knox, Madison, Pierce, Platte, Stanton, Thurston and Wayne counties will be in a Red Flag warning from noon to 8 p.m. today (Monday, Sept. 30).
Winds will be out of the northwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 30 mph. Relative humidity could be as low as 15 percent. Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
Outdoor burning is not recommended during this time.
