Post 43 Seniors drop first game of National Division Tourney

Even with an 11-2 loss Tuesday night against Waverly, Rolling Hills Supply Wayne Post 43 will advance to a winner-take-all final during the Class B Senior Legion National Division State Tournament.

Post 43 saw their seven-game winning streak snapped falling to 25-3 following their fourth straight game in Minden.

Leaders for Wayne at the plate were Jaxson Kneifl with a single and double; Kaleb Moormeier and Gavin Redden both drove in a run while Kneifl and Brodey Munter both crossed the plate once.

Adrian Contreras (100 pitches) suffered the loss in four innings allowing 10 runs (seven earned) off nine hits while striking out five batters and walking four. Kneifl (32) closed out the final inning allowing an earned run off one hit while walking two batters.

The first game favored Alliance knocking out Lincoln Christian with an 11-10 victory.

Alliance will face Waverly at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, August 6 with the winner to match up against Wayne shortly after in the National Division final.

American Division scores: Springfield/Platteview eliminated West Point, 4-1 while Hickman knocked out Seward, 8-4. Hickman (undefeated in tourney) will need just one win starting at 4 p.m. while Springfield/Platteview would need to win twice on Wednesday.

The National Division winner will host the American Division winner on Saturday, August 9 at TBA in the final game of the season during the Class B Sr. Playoff game.
