Post 81 Senior and Junior American Legion baseball returned to the ball park following a week off from their season-opener.
From Hartington, Wakefield visited the Hartington Seniors and Juniors on May 28.
One run decided the seniors game favoring Hartington, 4-3 while the Hartington Juniors also won 15-0 over Post 81.
Both Wakefield teams fell to 0-2.
During the Seniors outing, Hartington scored a run in the home half of the first inning and held a 1-0 lead for the next three innings. The home team added two more runs in the fifth to lead 3-0. Wakefield then knotted the game up with three of their own runs in the top of the sixth before Hartington plated the go-ahead run a half of an inning later.
Final favored Hartington winning 4-3 despite being ouhit, 6-3. Wakefield committed the lone three errors in the game.
Jesse Lundahl doubled twice, drove in two runs and scored as Mason Lamprecht singled, doubled and drove in a run.
Cael Johnson singled and scored; Matthew Metzler singled as Jacob Birkley scored.
Lundahl (106 pitches) suffered the complete game loss in six innings allowing four runs (one earned) off three hits while striking out 12 batters, walking three and hitting one.
In the Juniors contest, Hartington did most of their damage early with 10 runs in the first inning followed by four runs in the second. After a scoreless third, Hartington scored once more in the fourth.
Final favored Hartington winning 15-0 while outhitting Post 81, 8-0. Wakefield committed the lone error.
The only base runners for Wakefield were Jacob Birkley and Drayden Zayas on walks.
Tristan Connell (43 pitches) suffered the loss after working a third of an inning allowing 10 runs (nine earned) off five hits while striking out one batter and walking four. Drake McAfee (50) worked an inning and two-thirds allowing four earned runs off two hits while striking out one batter, walking five and hitting one. Zeke Ramirez (27) closed out the final inning and third allowing an earned run off one hit while walking one batter and hitting three.
