The City of Wayne has been made aware of a string of realistic-looking, fraudulent business checks being distributed and used around Wayne and multiple surrounding counties beginning on May 1, 2026.
The banking information, account numbers, business names, and signatures on these fraudulent checks are all copies of real people/accounts.
This scam is an ongoing investigation. Please remain vigilant while exercising caution and attention to detail if accepting checks from sources you are not familiar with.
