After going 1-1-1 during three straight NSIC home games in late September/early Oct., the Wayne State College women’s soccer team played their first of four in a row on the road.
From the Nemzek Soccer Field in Moorhead, Minnesota, WSC visited MSU Moorhead Friday late afternoon.
Thanks to early goal production, Wayne State College secured a 3-0 victory. The Wildcats are now 4-3-2 (3-1-1 NSIC) while the Dragons fell to 1-7-1 (1-4 NSIC).
Alaina Sorensen scored off an assist by Paige Pemberton at the 10:03 mark of the match followed by Pemberton netting a goal thanks to assists from Erin Peters and Riann Daas in the 15th minute (14:59).
WSC led 2-0 at the break.
The Wildcats scored once more when Sorensen netted a second goal in the 49th minute (48:39).
Sorensen attempted five shots with four on goal and two past the keeper while Pemberton recorded five shots with two on goal and one in the back of the net along with an assist and Morgan Rhodes took four shots with one on goal.
Tyler Donaldson and Rachel Davis each had one shot on goal; Kaelyn Reeves and Halena Handel both had two shot attempts as Madilyn Schmeling tacked on one shot. Peters and Daas both also had an assist.
Sidney Truman was in goal for all 90 minutes recording two saves.
Wayne State College outshot MSU Moorhead, 21-6 including 9-2 on goal. The Wildcats used one corner kick compared to zero by the Dragons.
