Reactions shared after school lockdown

Posted

The Wayne Community Schools received two phone calls on Jan. 30 indicating a shooter was coming to the school.

The school immediately went into lock down and law enforcement was contacted.

A delayed third similar call was received by the Wayne Police Department with the caller stating they were in the Elementary School parking lot and were there to shoot up the school. Law enforcement was already on scene by this time.

In addition to the Wayne Police Department, the Wayne County Sheriff's Office and Nebraska State Patrol responded and sweeps were done of both the interior and exterior of  each of the school buildings. Law enforcement was unable to locate any credible threat.
