A second Wayne Herald correspondent has been comprised by the majority of the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge sports photos and her name, Jessica Recob.
Whether it has been from the sideline of a football contest or in the gym all the way to the Pinnacle Bank Arena for history at LCC in volleyball, Recob was there. The LCC preschool teacher has been providing photography to the Wayne Herald for about a year.
She first found the interest in taking photos during her time in high school for a yearbook class as a sophomore.
"When I graduated high school, my parents gifted me my first Canon Rebel," said Recob. "I began with just taking pictures of landscapes and families."
It wasn't until her own kids were getting more into activities where Recob was first introduced to sports photography.
"My daughter started dancing and then (I) got more active as all of my kids got into sports which was around 14 year ago."
Jessica Recob enjoys supporting the LCC activities and watching her kids and their friends participate in all of the things they are passionate about. She also loves the feeling of community that comes from living in this area.
"My favorite sport to shoot is definitely volleyball but I enjoy watching any sport or activity my kids are in so it runs the gamut," said Recob. "From football, wrestling, track, basketball and soon golf."
A native of Bellevue, Jessica Recob graduated from Bryan High School. She then achieved her bachelor's degree in education from UNO before moving to Laurel with her husband in 2011.
Recob added she plans to remain active with photographing sports in the area for at least the next six years.
"After my youngest graduates, I am not sure what I will continue to do," said Recob. "Maybe finally clean old images off of my computer and hard drive!"
Another photographer to be highlighted will be Julie Gubbels Thompson (all Wayne Herald towns) as you can find additional details on the Wayne High correspondent of Payton Junck in the Nov. 13 Wayne Herald on 1B.
