Two public hearings and discussion on seven resolutions were part of the agenda when the Wayne City Council met in regular session on Tuesday.

The first of the hearings involved a redevelopment plan for the property at Fourth and Main Streets in Wayne.  RJ Liska, developer with Bright Fox Properties, came before the council to explain his plan for the property.

Liska asked for Tax Increment Financing (TIF) funds in the amount of $30,000 to reimburse a portion of the costs of site acquisition.

The second public hearing on Tuesday involved the purchase of a 1.65 acre piece of land just east of Prairie Park for $30,000.

The property is currently owned by Pinnacle Management LLC.

City Administrator Wes Blecke discussed some possible uses for the property, including enlarging some of the softball fields, adding youth baseball fields and additional parking.

A third resolution on Tuesday agenda approved the purchase of 'major materials' for the Northeast/Centennial Road Substation project.

The final resolution on the agenda was approving and adopting a policy for facade improvement grant guidelines.

Businesses in general, not just along Main Street, will be able to apply for up to $5,000 for facade improvements to their buildings.

These grants will be awarded on a 1:1 match with a maximum of $5,000 for the $25,000 that was allocated in this fiscal year's budget.

Other items on the agenda included a request to reduce the sewer bill for Lucas Munter on property he owns.

Munter shared information with the council on a pipe in the bathroom that broke and flood the basement. He hired someone to pump out the water, which did not go down the sewer.

The $1,823.46 sewer charge was waived.

The Wayne City Council will next meet in regular session on Monday, Feb. 2 at 5:30 p.m. in council chambers.
