Results announced for May Primary election

Voters in Nebraska went to the polls on May 12 to cast ballots for a number of state and local races.

In Wayne County, 1,536 voters cast ballots. This represents 29.39% of the eligible voters.

In the contested races, for Winside School District 95R, results include: Tarrin Quinn (236 votes), Melissa Schwedhelm (206 votes), Kayla L. Lange (175 votes), Bryan Foxhoven (112 votes), Marcos Escalera (105 votes), Erin Thies (85 votes), Zachary Bretschneider (53 votes) and Mercedes Bretschneider (20 votes).

The top six vote getters will move on to the November General Election.

In the city of Wayne City Council Ward 2 race, Alex Koch was the top vote getter with 57 votes. Christopher Woehler and Greg Vander Weil each received 41 votes and Scott JM Abraham received 11 votes.

*Still following the printing of the paper, Election Commissioner Joni Tietz (County Clerk) and her office are still finalizing details. The top two vote getters will advance to the General Election in November but there was a tie for second in Wayne City Council Ward 2.

In Winside, a vote for a proposal to impose a local sales and use tax  was approved on a vote of 89 for and 38 against.
