Ric L. Barner, 71, of Okatie, South Carolina, formerly of Papillion and Wayne, died Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 31 at St. Columbkille Catholic Church in Papillion. Visitation will be at the church from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 30 with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m. Private burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Wayne.
A Celebration of Life for Ric will be held Saturday, Aug. 1 at the Wayne Country Club in Wayne, beginning at 2 p.m.
Arrangements are with Hasemann Funeral Home of Wayne.
Ric L. Barner was born in Wakefield, on March 12, 1955 to LeRoy and Helen (Sedlak) Barner. He grew up in Wayne and was a 1973 graduate of Wayne High School and later a 1977 graduate of Wayne State College, with a bachelor’s degree. Ric married Barbara Boyd Sept. 20, 1975, in Winside. The couple lived in Wayne prior to moving to Papillion in the 1990s. During his lifetime, Ric was a carpenter, specializing in wood flooring and was the proprietor of the Wildcat Lanes in Wayne. In 2024, Ric and Barb retired and moved to Okatie, South Carolina. He was a member of St. Columbkille Catholic Church in Papillion and currently St. Gregory’s Catholic Church in Bluffton, South Carolina.
Survivors include his wife, Barb; son, Christopher Barner of Omaha; daughter, Amy Barner of Omaha; granddaughter, Alivia Barner of Omaha; one sister, Peggy Barner of Lincoln; one brother, Darrin (Brenda) Barner of Laurel; sisters-in-law, Mary (Bill) Scarborough of LaVista, and Sarah Griffin of Topeka, Kansas; brother-in-law, Patrick (Tracy) Boyd of Spencer, Iowa; mother-in-law, Marianne Boyd of Omaha; aunts, LaVon Moes of Osmond, Shirley Troutman of Lincoln and Hazel Ferris of Mesquite, Texas; numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, LeRoy and Helen; father-in-law, Robert Boyd; maternal grandparents; paternal grandparents; aunts and uncles, Harry Sedlak, Marvin Barner, Leoma and Cliff Baker, Linda and Bob Paul, Darrell and Bonna Barner, Wayne Moes, and Darrell Troutman; cousins, Clint Troutman, Kim Baker and Kelly Ferris.
