A Celebration of Life Service for Richard D. “Big Rich” Scrivner Sr., 74, of Carroll, will be held on Saturday, Sept. 6 from 2 – 5 p.m. at the Carroll Auditorium in Carroll.
Richard died Thursday, Aug. 28, 2025 at the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Randolph.
Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Randolph is in charge of the arrangements.
Rich was born May 16, 1951 in Omaha to William and Marilyn (Plambeck) Scrivner. He grew up in the South Omaha area and went to Bryan High School. After high school, he was a welding laborer at various jobs and he helped build Nucor Steel in Norfolk. He was then hired by Nucor Steel and retired after 20+ years. Rich also helped local farmers and held various other jobs throughout the years.
He married Linda Davenport on Jan. 31, 1970, in Omaha. To this union, three children were born: Richard D Jr., Ron, and Mindy. Rich was always willing to help others and found great joy in doing so. He loved tinkering, auctions, antiques, Harley Davidsons, camping, canoeing, playing pool and demolition derbies. Rich loved his family dearly and relished in the moments when they would all gather at his house and grill out.
Big Rich is survived by his wife of 55 years, Linda; children, Rich (Michelle) Scrivner Jr of Norfolk, Ron (Lana) Scrivner of Yankton, South Dakota and Mindy (Mike) Heithold of Wayne; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers - Guy, William and James.
