Roger L. Kay, 72, of Wayne,  died Friday, Aug. 25, 2023, at Providence Medical Center in Wayne.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30 at  Our Savior Lutheran Church in Wayne. The Rev. Jim Splitt will officiate. Burial with military rites will be in Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Waynee. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29 at ur Savior Lutheran Church in Wayne.

Memorials may be directed to the Kay family for later designation.

Arrangements are with Hasemann Funeral Home in Wayne.

Roger Lynn Kay was born July 8, 1951 in Wayne to Harry Frederick and Elsie Mae (Wert) Kay. He graduated from Wayne High School in 1970. Roger served in the United States Army in Vietnam, Korea, and Germany. He worked for many years in Wayne at the PAMIDA Discount Store, stocking shelves, cleaning, unloading the delivery trucks and various other duties. Roger enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, word finds, watching old television programs, and following the Nebraska Huskers.

Survivors include his siblings, Sally (LeRoy) Clarkson of Neligh, Gene (Beverly) Kay of Columbus, Linda (Larry) Anderson of Wakefield, Barbara Kay of Omaha, and Mary (Gerald) Stalling of Wayne; nieces; nephews; and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his best friend and pet beagle, Ginger; parents, Harry and Elsie; sister, Sandra Clarkson; nephew, Jimmy Clarkson; good friend, William Baier; many uncles; aunts and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Kolby Peters, Jack Spielman, Scott Clarkson, Tom Clarkson, Art Bruns and Steve Simmonds.
