Rolling Hills Post 43 Seniors win 10th straight, seven-game win streak snapped for Juniors

A busy three day schedule opened June 19 for Rolling Hills Post 43 Junior and Senior American Legion baseball.

From Hank Overin Field in Wayne, Post 43 first hosted Lakeview Bank of the Valley.

In the Seniors outing, Rolling Hills Post 43 (16-1) won their 10th straight thanks to a one-run victory over Lakeview Bank of the Valley Seniors.

The Wayne Seniors first scored a run in the opening inning. Following four scoreless innings, Post 43 again scored a run in the sixth to lead 2-0. Lakeview would answer with just one run in the top of the seventh. Final favored Rolling Hills Post 43 Seniors winning 2-1 and winning the hit department, 6-5.

Gavin Redden singled twice and drove in a run while Calvin Ankeny singled twice.

Kaleb Moormeier singled and scored; Alex Rodriguez singled and drove in a run as Brayden Rajaee-Hallgren scored.

Aiden Liston (78 pitches) picked up the complete game victory in seven innings allowing an earned run off five hits while striking out seven batters, walking two and hitting one.

During the Juniors game, Rolling Hills Post 43 (11-2) had their seven-game winning streak snapped following a 12-2 loss to Lakeview.

Lakeview scored twice in the first inning. Following a scoreless second, Rolling Hills Post 43 answered with single runs in the third and fourth to tie the game at 2-2. After two scoreless innings, Lakeview produced 10 runs in the top of the seventh to win 12-2 and outhit Post 43, 17-5.

Alex Rodriguez tripled and scored while Brodey Munter and James Birkel both singled and drove in a run.

Jaxson Kneifl and Adrian Contreras both singled as Parker Patefield scored.

Chase Sturm (six pitches) was tagged with the loss in the seventh inning not recording an out after allowing two earned runs off one hit while walking one batter. Kneifl (103) started the opening six innings allowing two earned runs off 10 hits while striking out nine batters and walking two.

Drew Reinhardt (12) didn’t record an out allowing four earned runs off three hits while walking one batter. Rodriguez recorded the final three outs in the seventh allowing four runs (two earned) off three hits.
