Rolling Hills Post 43 wins twice at Pender

Mid-week Ralph Bishop League American Legion baseball took place for the Rolling Hills Post 43 Juniors and Seniors.

From Pender, Post 43 visited Post 55 on June 12.

The Rolling Hills Post 43 Seniors won their sixth straight thanks to a 7-2 victory over Pender improving to 12-1 while the Post 43 Juniors also won their sixth consecutive game with a 15-5 win over Post 55 to now sit 10-1 on the season.

In the Seniors outing, Pender jumped ahead 2-0 in the first inning. Following a scoreless second, Rolling Hills Post 43 recorded a six-run third inning and added one more run in the fourth. Final favored Wayne winning 7-2 and winning the hit department, 11-5.

It also marked the second time in the past four days that the two teams met as Rolling Hills Post 43 Seniors won the Wood Bat Tourney on Sunday by the score of 11-0.

Gavin Redden recorded a two-run homerun, singled twice and scored twice; Adrian Contreras doubled, drove in two runs and scored; Alex Rodriguez singled twice and scored as Aiden Liston singled twice.

Jase Dean singled, drove in a run and scored; Calvin Ankeny singled and drove in two runs as Kaleb Moormeier singled and scored.

Liston, who had a perfect game against Pender last time out, went six and two-thirds in the win (106 pitches) allowing two runs (one earned)) off five hits while striking out nine batters, walking two and hitting one. Rodriguez (five) recorded the final out.

During the Juniors game, both teams scored a run in the first inning followed by Rolling Hills Post 43 taking a 4-2 lead after two innings. Wayne scored a run in the third, Pender answered with a run in the fourth as Post 43 plated three more runs in the top of the fifth to lead 8-3. After both teams scored a run in the sixth, Rolling Hills Post 43 used a 6-1 advantage in the seventh to win 15-5 and win the hit department, 11-5.

Gavin Anderson recorded a two-run homerun, singled and scored twice; Parker Patefield singled, doubled, drove in two runs and scored; Alex Rodriguez singled, doubled, drove in a run and scored twice; Jaxson Kneifl singled twice and scored four runs as James Birkel singled twice, drove in a run and scored twice.

Drew Reinhardt singled, drove in a run and scored; Brayden Rajaee-Hallgren and Brodey Munter both accounted for a RBI and run scored as Adrian Contreras scored.

Chase Nelson (60 pitches) picked up the win in three and two-thirds allowing three runs (one earned) off three hits while striking out one batter and walking three. Reinhardt (26) worked two and a third innings allowing one run off two hits while striking out one batter. Chase Sturm (15) pitched the final inning striking out, walking and hitting one batter each.
