BLAIR – Elimination Monday continued during the Class B Area 3 Junior American Legion baseball tournament for the top seeded Rolling Hills Supply Post 43 Wayne Juniors.
Back at Veterans Memorial Field in Blair for a third straight day, the Wayne Juniors looked to fight off their second elimination game. Post 43 competed against the host and #3 Blair Post 154 Monday night.
Thanks to a five-run third inning, Rolling Hills Supply Post 43 won 7-1 over Blair to improve to 17-4. Blair ended their season at 16-10-1.
Neither team scored in the first inning before Post 43 plated a run in the second. Rolling Hills Supply then recorded a five-run third inning and added a run in the fourth to lead 7-0.
Blair scored once in the fifth. Final favored Rolling Hills Supply Post 43 Wayne Juniors winning 7-1 and winning the hit department, 7-6.
Jaxson Kneifl singled three times, drove in two runs and scored; Parker Patefield doubled, drove in a run and scored as Drew Reinhardt singled and drove in two runs.
Alex Rodriguez singled and scored twice; Gavin Anderson singled and scored; Adrian Contreras accounted for a RBI as Brodey Munter and Jaxon Chase both scored.
Contreras (107 pitches) picked up the win in six innings allowing an earned run off six hits while striking out 11 batters, walking three and hitting one. Patefield (14) worked the final inning striking out one batter.
Earlier in the evening, #2 West Point Post 70 won 9-1 in six innings over #4 Valparaiso Post 371.
