Following a successful spring high school baseball season, several members of the Blue Devil baseball team made the transition to American Legion summer ball in late May.
Rolling Hills Supply Post 43 Wayne Seniors and Juniors began their season at South Sioux City on May 28.
The Wayne Seniors secured a 17-0 shutout while the Post 43 Juniors also shut the door early during a 24-3 victory. Both teams started their year at 1-0.
In the Seniors outing, neither team scored in the first inning. It was the second inning where Wayne did all of their damage plating 17 runs.
Final in three innings favored Rolling Hills Supply Post 43 Seniors winning 17-0 while outhitting South Sioux City, 17-0. Neither team committed an error.
Gavin Redden singled three times, doubled, drove in three runs and scored twice; Adrian Contreras singled three times and scored twice; Hayden Kelley singled, doubled, drove in three runs and scored twice as Ethan Synovec singled, doubled and drove in a run.
Jaxson Kneifl also doubled, drove in two runs and scored twice.
Kaleb Moormeier singled twice, drove in two runs and scored twice; Alex Rodriguez singled, drove in two runs and scored twice; Sam Etter-Gomez singled and scored twice; James Birkel singled; Drew Reinhardt accounted for a RBI and two runs scored as Gavin Anderson added a RBI and run scored.
Synovec (44 pitches) picked up the complete game shutout win not allowing a hit in three innings while striking out nine batters and walking one.
During the Juniors contest, Wayne led 3-2 after the first inning and followed with three runs in the second. Post 43 did most of their damage with an 18-1 third inning.
Final in three innings favored Rolling Hills Supply Post 43 Juniors winning 24-3 while outhitting South Sioux City, 7-3. South Sioux City committed the lone five errors.
Chase Nelson doubled, drove in two runs and scored three times; Brodey Munter singled twice, drove in two runs and scored three times as Reece Ames singled, drove in four runs and scored three times.
Easton Endicott singled and drove in three runs; Blake Smith singled, drove in two runs and scored twice; Blade Nelson singled, drove in a run and scored twice; Chase Sturm accounted for a RBI and three runs scored as William Patefield and Jaxson Kneifl both scored twice.
Endicott (68 pitches) picked up the win in two and a third innings allowing three earned runs off three hits while striking out two batters and walking four. Camden Hall (8) closed out the final two-thirds striking out two batters.
