A total of seven Senior American Legion baseball teams will take over Hank Overin Field in Wayne for the Class B Area 5 tournament.
First round games are scheduled for Friday, July 25 as Rolling Hills Supply Wayne Post 43 earned the #1 seed and will have a bye into Saturday, July 26.
Post 43 Seniors are 18-2 and last suffered a 7-2 loss at Malcolm on July 7.
Game one on July 25 in Wayne will showcase #4 David City vs. #5 Pierce still at 1 p.m., followed by #3 Lakeview vs. #6 Schuyler/North Bend/Morse Bluff now at 4 p.m. and close with #2 West Point vs. #7 Stanton now at 7 p.m. (game times for Friday/Saturday/Sunday were changed by State Legion officials following the printing of the Wayne Herald).
The losers of Lakeview/Schuyler and Stanton/West Point games will open July 26 with an elimination game still at 1 p.m. followed by the winners of the same teams now at 4 p.m.
The Pierce/David City winner will face Wayne on July 26 now at 7 p.m. while the loser will receive a bye into a Sunday, July 27 elimination game.
Championship action is set for Tuesday, July 29 at Hank Overin Field in Wayne at 5 p.m. with the two teams automatically advancing to the next round.
The Area 5 winner would go to Minden for the National Division and face the Area 4 runner-up while the Area 5 runner-up would travel to Auburn for the American Division and face the Area 4 champion.
Both tournaments are set for Saturday, August 2 - Wednesday, August 6.
The two champions from the two Divisions will then advance to the Class B Senior Playoff game on Friday, August 9 hosted by the National Division winner.
