Rolling Hills Supply Post 43 Wayne Seniors opened Class B State Tourney on Saturday

For the second straight year, Post 43 Senior American Legion baseball from Wayne will be represented at state.

From Landmark Implement Field in Holdrege, Class B Senior American Legion baseball state tournament action ran Aug. 3-7 with a double elimination tourney.

Wayne is 25-3 on the season after winning 2-1 over Columbus Lakeview on Tuesday in West Point. Hickman picked up wins of 5-3 and 9-4 over Beatrice on Tuesday in Waverly.

  Game one will open with Area 1 Champion ETC Knights Black Post 211 Elkhorn vs. Area 6 Champion Central City Post 6. The Elkhorn/Central City loser will face the Hickman/Wayne loser on Sunday in the elimination round while the two winners would play Sunday night.

The Central City Juniors won the Class B Juniors State Tournament two weeks ago.

The other half of Saturday’s Class B Senior American Legion state baseball bracket will feature Area 4 Champion Wahoo State Bank Post 82 Reds vs. Area 7 Champion Auburn First National Post 23 followed by the host and Area 6 Runner-Up Holdrege Post 66 vs. Area 3 Champion Blair Post 154.

The Wahoo/Auburn loser would face the Holdrege/Blair loser at noon on Sunday while the two winners would play at 3 p.m. on Sunday.

There will be a new Class B Senior champion with Plattsmouth winning last year’s state tournament in Pierce over Wahoo. Wayne Post 43 finished fourth last year at state going 2-2.
