Ruhl receives NSAA Distinguished Service Award

Retiring Wayne High athletic director and junior high principal Rocky Ruhl was honored with the NSAA Distinguished Service Award that was presented during halftime of Saturday’s Class A championship game at the Nebraska State Boys Basketball Championships in Lincoln.

Ruhl has been employed by Wayne Community Schools for 30 years, serving the last 18 as athletic director and junior high principal. During his career, he has coached boys basketball, cross country and track and field and been tournament director for numerous NSAA subdistrict and district tournament events.

A member of the Nebraska Coaches Association and the Nebraska State Athletic Administrators Association, he was named the latter group’s District 3 Athletic Director of the Year in 2006. He serves on the NSAA’s class caucus committee and is the District 3 chairman.
