The Wayne Herald received official word late Tuesday that Rocky Ruhl is retiring as cross country coach at Wayne High School after 30 years as the team’s head coach.

Replacing Ruhl, who is also retiring as athletic director and junior high principal at the end of the school year, is Courtney Maas, who has been a longtime assistant for Ruhl; and Terry Beair, who is stepping aside from his duties as head football coach. Maas will coach the girls cross country team and Beair will lead the boys.

Ruhl also announced the elementary principal Russ Plager will take over as the Blue Devils football coach beginning in the 2017-18 school year.
