Ruth L. Lorenzen,  84, of Norfolk, died Thursday, Feb. 20, 2025 at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 24 at Home for Funerals Chapel, 708 Georgia Avenue in Norfolk. The Rev. Ray Wilke will officiate, with burial in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, Feb 23 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the chapel. 

Home for Funerals in Norfolk is in charge of arrangements.

Ruth L. Lorenzen, daughter of Gotthilf and Elta (Herbolsheimer) Jaeger, was born Nov. 25, 1940 in Wayne. She attended Winside Public School, graduating in 1958. Ruth married Harry Lorenzen on Nov. 5, 1968 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winside. She worked for Drs. James, Walker, and Hybil, Optometrists.

She loved gardening and volunteered for Meals on Wheels. Ruth was known for her dry sense of humor which made us all laugh.

 Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Harry; siblings, Jeanette (Bob) Vahle, Mary (Sam) Burtwistle, Carol Jorgensen, Ernie (Dianne) Jaeger, and Dale (Ruthie) Jaeger; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; in-laws, Harry, Sr. and Doris; brother and sister-in-law, George and Janice Jaeger; and brothers-in-law, Jim Melcher, Skip Haskett and Gene Jorgensen.
