Wayne High and Laurel-Concord-Coleridge volleyball as well as Wayne High softball played multiple games on Saturday while Wayne State College football and #14 WSC volleyball continued their homecoming NSIC action.
From Bob Cunningham Field on the campus of Wayne State College, WSC secured a 51-6 victory against Southwest Minnesota State.
The Wildcats 3-2 (2-1 NSIC) will next visit Winona State on Saturday, October 4 at 1 p.m.
Back at Rice Auditorium for a third straight home match, #14 WSC swept Bemidji State (25-18, 25-17, 25-13).
Wayne State College 11-2 (5-0 NSIC) will close out four straight with a non-conference home match on Tuesday, September 30 at 6 p.m. hosting Briar Cliff.
From Timmerman Park in West Point, Wayne High softball was crowned champion in the Mid State Conference Tournament hosted by GACC. #2 Wayne opened with a 10-2 win against #6 Pierce, defeated #3 O'Neill 8-4 and closed with a 3-2 championship victory over #1 GACC.
The Blue Devils (19-8) will next visit Lincoln Pius X on Tuesday, September 30 starting at 3:30 p.m.
From Wayne, the Wayne Volleyball Invite showcased five teams.
The Blue Devils recorded 2-0 sweeps against all of their opponents starting with Madison (25-13, 25-12), Wisner-Pilger (25-20, 25-20), Archangels Catholic (25-11, 25-19) and closed against Summerland (25-17, 25-16).
Wayne High (13-8) will next visit West Point-Beemer on Tuesday, September 30 starting at 5 p.m.
From Tilden, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge played four matches during the Elkhorn Valley Invite and finished runner-up.
LCC first saw their 17-match win streak snapped following a three set loss against Archbishop Bergan (25-15, 16-25, 20-25), swept both O'Neill (25-16, 26-24) and Battle Creek (25-19, 25-23) before being swept in the finals by Oakland-Craig (17-25, 19-25).
The Bears (19-2) will next host Pierce on Tuesday, September 30 starting at 5:30 p.m.
