Winside girls and boys track & field started their season with indoor events on Friday.
From the Fieldhouse at Concordia University in Seward, Winside was one of 14 girls and one of 15 boys teams among the Bulldog Challenge – Forest Division.
The Winside girls finished 11th with 7.5 points while the Winside boys tied for 11th with 10 points.
In the girls division, Blair won the team title with 91.5 points, Central City followed in second (68), Yutan took third (64.5), Osceola placed fourth (55) and Lincoln Lutheran rounded out the top five teams with 41 points.
Winside girls scoring came from sophomore Hadleigh Schutt who took third in the shot put (32′ 1/4″) as freshman Bridget Marotz tied for fifth in the high jump (4′ 10″).
During the boys division, Central City nearly doubled the second place team with 122.5 points, Lincoln Lutheran followed in runner-up with 66 points, Doniphan-Trumbull and Blair tied for third (51) as Mead rounded out the top five teams with 30 points.
Winside boys scoring was posted by junior Caleb Offner who won the shot put (50′ 1 3/4″).
