Wayne State College women's soccer attack caught fire while the defense held their own following a home match.
From the WSC Soccer Pitch on Sept. 13, the Wildcats won 5-0 over in-state foe Midland University (Fremont).
WSC is now 1-0-2 on the season.
Five different goal scorers were used starting off with Reagan Allen putting the ball in the back of the net in the 34th minute.
Second half scoring started just over 90 seconds into the frame when Paige Pemberton scored off an assist by Tyler Donaldson.
Other goals came from Rachel Davis (assist Allen) in the 68th minute, penalty kick goal by Abby Evers in the 81st minute and Jordan Lewis used an assist by Briella Thompsen to score in the 83rd minute.
Pemberton attempted a team-high eight shots with one in the back of the net; Allen followed with six attempts and one score as Thompsen added five attempts and one shot on goal.
Morgan Mancuso tallied five shots, Taylor Woods attempted three shots with two on goal; Davis scored on one of her two attempts on goal; Alyssa Ferin placed two shot attempts on goal; Molly Riggins attempted two shots with one on goal; both Lewis and Evers used their lone shot attempt as a goal while Kaylee Herall had one shot attempt.
WSC outshot Midland, 36-2 including 12-0 on goal. The Wildcats recorded seven corner kicks compared to zero by the Warriors.
Next up for Wayne State College women's soccer will be NSIC competition at Minnesota Crookston on Sept. 19 at 3 p.m. followed by a road trip to MSU Moorhead on Sunday, Sept. 21 starting at 1 p.m.
