Second half surge too much for Wayne High

With district competition beginning next week, the Wayne High football team took to the road for a second time in the opening month of the season.

From Logan View/Scribner-Snyder High School near Hooper, Friday night lights continued for the Blue Devils.

Following a scoreless first half, scoring favored the Raiders the final two quarters to win 22-0. Both teams are now 1-3 on the season.

Neither team scored in the opening half. Logan View/Scribner-Snyder put up 15 points in the third quarter and added seven more points in the fourth.

Final favored Logan View/Scribner-Snyder winning 22-0.

Kaden Keller finished 8-20 for 63 yards. Alex Rodriguez hauled in four catches for 49 yards (long of 20) while Brodey Munter added a reception for 12 yards and ran for 21 yards on six attempts with one fumble.

Taven Ocampo led the rush attack with 10 carries for 35 yards (long of 14) with one fumble while Will Leseberg followed with nine carries for 33 yards and two catches for three yards.

Defensively, Ocampo recorded 12 tackles (eight solo), Will Leseberg added seven tackles (six solo) while Calvin Ankeny finished with six tackles (two solo). Waylon Huff and Maddox Ziska both posted a tackle for loss while Parker Patefield and Jace Jorgensen both had an interception.

Wayne High finished with 132 total yards (63 passing/69 rushing).

The Wayne High football team will next host O’Neill on Friday, September 27 at 7 p.m. to open C1-4 District competition.
