On Saturday morning, Jan. 22, at approximately 3:10 a.m., the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle crash which resulted in a fatality.
Reports from the sheriff's office indicate that Michael Brown was driving westbound on Highway 98 when he lost control of his vehicle and it rolled in a ditch. A passenger in the vehicle, Theresa Brown, was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced deceased at the scene due to injuries sustained.
Lack of seat belt usage is considered a contributing factor in the fatality. The crash remains under investigation.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Winside Volunteer Rescue Department and the Carroll Volunteer Fire Department.
