Elimination Class B Senior American Legion state tournament baseball began early Sunday morning for Rolling Hills Supply Post 43 Wayne in Holdrege.
Back at Landmark Implement Field in Holdrege, Post 43 looked to continue their season against ETC Knights Black Post 211 Mount Michael.
A combined 11 runs were scored in the final inning as Mount Michael held onto the 11-9 victory. The ETC Knights Post 211 Seniors improved to 37-12 while Rolling Hills Supply Post 43 ended their season at 25-5.
Following a scoreless first inning, Mount Michael plated three runs in the second inning. After a scoreless second, Mount Michael doubled their lead to 6-0 in the fourth. Neither team scored in the fifth as Rolling Hills Supply recorded a three-run sixth and won the seventh, 6-5. Final favored Mount Michael winning 11-9 despite being outhit, 9-8.
The big hitters on the day were Gavin Anderson with a two-run homerun, single and three total RBI; Gavin Redden added a solo homerun with two runs scored as Kaleb Moormeier doubled and drove in a run.
Alex Rodriguez singled, drove in a run and scored twice; Jaxson Kneifl and Aiden Liston both singled and scored; Adrian Contreras and Wyatt Heikes both singled; Calvin Ankeny accounted for two RBI and a run scored as Brayden Rajaee-Hallgren scored.
Aiden Liston (98 pitches) suffered the loss in four innings allowing six runs (two earned) off five hits while striking out five batters, walking four and hitting one. Gavin Anderson (67) worked the final three innings allowing five runs (two earned) off three hits while striking out four batters and walking two.
Another Class B elimination game favored the host Holdrege Post 66 (18-12) winning 3-2 over Auburn First National Post 23 (19-20).
Winner’s bracket games favored Wahoo State Bank Post 82 Reds (19-11) winning 5-0 against Blair Post 154 (36-6) and Gana Trucking Post 105 Hickman (22-18) winning 3-1 over Central City Post 6 (18-7).
