The Wayne State women’s soccer team capped one of its most productive weekends in recent memory with a second straight shutout Saturday at the WSC Soccer Pitch.

A pair of late first-half goals and two more in the second half gave the Wildcats a 4-0 win over William Jewell College. Capped with Thursday’s season-opening win over Minnesota Crookston, the Wildcats have scored 10 goals in their past two games.

The game was a defensive battle until late when the Wildcats scored twice in the final seven minutes to take a 2-0 lead at intermission.

Senior Skylar Stueckrath blasted a shot from just outside the box for the first goal of the game at the 38:17 mark. The Wildcats would score again less than 10 minutes later when Alaina Sorenson found Tyler Donaldson in front of the net to give the locals the two-goal advantage.

Midway through the second half, Maia Vacks got her third score of the season off a Stueckrath assist, and the scoring ended with six minutes left with Kaelyn Reeves putting home a Leah Bennett pass for the 4-0 win.

Hayden Wallace made two saves in goal and got credit for the win. Sidney Truman finished the final 20 minutes to secure the clean sheet for the 2-0 Wildcats.

The Wildcats will be on the road next weekend, facing McKendree (Ill.) Friday at 1 p.m. in Kansas City, Mo., followed by a Sunday afternoon match at Washburn in Topeka, Kan., starting at 1 p.m.
