Three Wayne State seniors were voted to the 2019 Academic All-District Women’s Soccer Team as selected by College Sports Information Directors of America.
Goalkeeper Rachel Grisham, defender Madison Burgard and midfielder Sophia Ketchmark each received First Team honors and now advance to the All-American ballot with honorees to be named in early December.
Burgard is a 5-foot-8 senior defender who maintains a 4.0 grade-point average majoring in chemistry and health sciences. On the field this year, the captain has started 16 games on defense and ranks fifth on the team in minutes played with 1,348. She has anchored a Wildcat defense that has recorded six shutouts this season. Burgard is a three-time selection to the NSIC Fall Academic Team.
Grisham is a 5-foot-4 senior goalkeeper who carries a 4.0 GPA majoring in criminal justice. On the field, she has a 6-7-4 record with a 1.18 goals-against average and has posted six shutouts starting all 17 games for the Wildcats this season. Grisham has 54 saves and a .730 save percentage this season and is a three-time NSIC Fall All-Academic recipient.
Ketchmark is a 5-foot-4 senior midfielder and also has a 4.0 GPA majoring in biology and life sciences. She leads the Wildcats in scoring this season with seven points on two goals and three assists while starting at 17 contests. Ketchmark is third on the team in minutes played this season (1,435) scored two goals in a 2-0 win at Minnesota Crookston on Oct. 27. She also assisted in goals against Sioux Falls, Minot State and Northern State. She is also a three-time selection to the NSIC Fall All-Academic Team.
