Three different Wildcats found the back of the net as Wayne State defeated Upper Iowa 3-2 Sunday afternoon in Northern Sun Conference women’s soccer played at the WSC Soccer Pitch.
Upper Iowa was first to score, getting their opening goal midway through the first half, but Wayne State would tie it up six minutes later when Christina Stasi scored on a cross from Lauren Fleming to make it 1-1 at intermission.
Early in the second half, Shelby Bullard made it a 2-1 game when she scored on a pass from Lauren Fleming. Upper Iowa would bounce back in the 63rd minute to tie the match at 2-2 on a header by Jordyn Ostrowski.
Wayne State got the game winner in the closing minutes thanks to Sophie Ketchmark, whose first goal off an assist by Rylie Wehner proved to be the game-winner for Wayne State, who outshot the Peacocks 19-15 in the contest.
Rachel Grisham had five saves in goal for the WIldcats, who improve to 2-3-3 overall and 1-2-2 in NSIC play with the win.
The Wildcats will be on the road Friday visiting MSU Moorhead in a 3 p.m. contest.
