South Sioux City shuts out Wayne/Wakefield

The South Sioux City baseball team used a big third inning to come away with an 11-0 win over Wayne/Wakefield in baseball action Tuesday at South Sioux City.

The Cardinals led 3-0 going to the third before erupting for eight runs in the inning. They had just one hit in the big inning and took advantage of six walks, two hit batters and an error.

Wayne/Wakefield’s only scoring threat came in the fourth, when Caden Korth doubled and was put out at home when he tried to score on a two-out single by Hagan Miller.

Korth’s double highlighted a four-hit effort by Wayne/Wakefield. Miller, Trevor DeBoer and Tucker Nichols all added singles. Korth, who pitched the first two innings and gave up three runs, was credited with the loss for 3-6 Wayne/Wakefield.

Wayne/Wakefield is back home Friday for a 5 p.m. matchup against Norfolk High at Hank Overin Field.
