The Wayne High School Speech Team, took part in the Hartington/Hartington Cedar Catholic Invitational on Jan. 29.
The following students and groups earned honors:
The Varsity Duet of Easton Blecke and Ashton Brandow, 12th; Brooklyn Bierbower, 12th in Varsity Serious; Abi Hawthorne, sixth in JV Entertainment; Alec Schaffer, sixth in JV Humorous; the Varsity Duet of Kaden Hopkins and Brooklyn Bierbower, sixth; Orion Spieker, fifth in Varsity Humorous; Norah Armstong, fourth in JV Poetry; Maddie Franta, third in JV Serious; the JV Duet of Maddie Franta and Aiden Cliff, third; Brayden Woehler, runner-up in JV Entertainment; Olivia Hanson, second in JV Informative.
Congratulations were extended to Wayne’s two event champions - Coby Dickes in JV Persuasive and Alondra Vega in JV Serious.
"In the team sweepstakes, competing with only partial teams in both divisions, Wayne took first place in the younger division for the third week in a row," said Head Coach Dwaine Spieker.
Next up for the Blue Devils is the Wayne High/Wayne State Classic Speech Invitational on the WSC campus on Saturday, Feb. 5.
