Six Wayne High boys and two girls competed at the Kearney Country Club for the 2024 NSAA State Cross Country Championships.
Eight races took over Friday afternoon split into a pair of sessions.
In session two, Class C/D boys and girls were highlighted.
The Wayne High boys finished 10th with 157 points out of 15 Class C teams.
WHS was led by senior Gavin Redden in 19th place during a time of 17:23.8 (about 13 seconds from a medal).
Other results came from sophomore Emmanuel Gonzalez (44th – 17:49), senior Kasen York (68th – 18:13.6), junior Drew Miller (86th – 18:37.2), sophomore Landen Claussen (95th – 18:55.2) and junior Boden Dobbins (98th – 19:17).
Holdrege won the Class C boys team title with 50 points.
Sophomore Trevin Opp from Lincoln Christian was crowned individual champion in a time of 16:11.8 on the 5,000-meter course among the 114 runners.
The Wayne High girls were led by junior Lilyan Hurner (56th – 22:04.8) along with senior Yama Kantai (71st – 22:44.6).
Auburn won the Class C girls team title with 64 points.
Senior Hailey O’Daniel from Arlington was crowned individual champion in a time of 19:26.1 on the 5,000-meter course among the 119 runners.
Class D boys: The race was run on a 5,000-meter course with 124 runners.
Laurel-Concord-Coleridge boys: senior Preston Rose (32nd – 18:04.2)
Tri County Northeast boys: sophomore Jude Ridenour (70th – 18:46.9)
Class D girls: 119 runners.
Laurel-Concord-Coleridge girls: junior Kate Tasler (54th – 22:14.6)
Tri County Northeast girls: junior Alejandra Hermosillo (58th – 22:28.6)
