It was another high-scoring win for the Wayne High softball team on Tuesday, as they shut out Logan View/Scribner-Snyder 17-0 on the road.
The win improved the Blue Devils to 18-3 on the season, but it was significant as it was coach Rob Sweetland’s 400th career win, making him one of five coaches in state softball history to reach the 400-win plateau.
Sweetland, the only softball coach in Wayne High’s 15-year history in the sport, has taken the Blue Devils to the state tournament 13 times in 14 years, winning two state titles (2003-2004) and three runner-up trophies (2007, 2009, 2013). He has a career winning percentage of .825 (400-85) heading into Thursday’s game at Guardian Angels Central Catholic.
