Sydnie Renee Niemann-Poulsen passed away peacefully on Dec. 16, 2025 in Portsmouth, Virginia, at the age of 26. Born in the heartland of Nebraska, on April 17, 1999, she lived a life marked by curiosity, love, and an unyielding zest for exploration.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 3 at Grace Lutheran Church in Wayne.

From an early age, Sydnie demonstrated an insatiable appetite for knowledge and adventure. As an avid reader, there was scarcely a book or a piece of literature she didn't find captivating. Her love of learning was matched only by her passion for travel, leading her to explore the ancient ruins of Greece, the bustling streets of London, and the serene landscapes of Norway.

Sydnie's educational journey was both groundbreaking and inspirational. A proud high school graduate of 2017, she became the first person in her family to graduate from Northeast Community College in 2019. There, she made history by being the first to complete the college's new International Studies program, earning accolades for her academic excellence as a member of the Honor Society. Multilingual and talented, Sydnie was also awarded a scholarship for her singing, leaving audiences moved with her voice.

In her professional life, Sydnie worked as a Retail Associate at Old Dominion University, where her kindness and dedication left a lasting impression on colleagues and customers alike.

Her interests were as diverse as they were passionate. Sydnie was an admirer of sprint car racing and found joy in playing video games, especially Sims4, which she cherished playing alongside her older sister Samantha. Nature walks offered her peace, while singing and performances ignited her spirit.

Sydnie's personal life was filled with warmth. She shared a profound love with her husband, Mason, and adored her older sister, Samantha. Her parents, Joey and Lisa Niemann, provided unwavering support throughout her life's journey. Sydnie found special companionship with her beloved cats, who brought her endless joy and affection.

A dedicated member of Grace Lutheran Church back home in Nebraska, Sydnie was baptized and confirmed in her faith, which guided her throughout her life.

Sydnie is survived by her grandfather, Ken; her grandparents, Audrey and Edward Niemann; and many loving aunts and uncles.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Nancy Niemann and Bonnie Harbuck, and her uncle, Michael Niemann.
