Earth Day falls on April 22 each year, but the Wayne Green Team encourages you to live every day as if it’s Earth Day. That’s why the Wayne Green Team is kicking off a month of activities to celebrate the Earth and take action to protect it. Community members can start by attending free community events to celebrate our planet and learn how to reduce waste.
Attend the Earth Month Chamber Coffee at 10 am, Friday, April 17. Bring your own mug to the Wayne Public Library and learn the latest on how to reduce, reuse, and recycle in Wayne. The Wayne Green Team will announce this year's Zero Hero winner, and you’ll leave knowing how to make a green impact in Wayne America.
Watch the free Earth Day movie, Microplastic Madness, at the Majestic Theatre, on Sunday, April 19, at 2 p.m. Microplastic Madness is an optimistic take on the plastic pollution crisis, told through a refreshing youth perspective. This film follows fifth graders in a Brooklyn public school for two years as they dive deep into the root causes of plastic pollution.
That same weekend, the Wayne State College Planetarium is presenting two shows in celebration of Earth Day: Dynamic Earth and Living Worlds. Show times are Friday, April 17, 7 pm and 8 pm, and Saturday, April 18, 1 pm and 2 pm.
