Members of the Wayne High girls team and three boys made their way through the 2025 NSAA Class C State Cross Country Championships on Ocft. 24.
From the Kearney Country Club, the Wayne High girls scored 170 points to finish 13th out of 15 teams while no team scoring was posted by the Wayne boys.
In the girls division, freshman Tayla Hurner captured a silver medal for Wayne in a time of 19:30.7.
Class C girls results.
Other Blue Devil results were posted by senior Lilyan Hurner (66th - 21:56.5), freshman Elizabeth Hix (91st - 22:42.7), sophomore Mariana Nexticapan Hernandez (99th - 23:26.5), senior Kennasyn Blecke (103rd - 23:52.7) and senior Josie Ley (104th - 23:52.8).
Chase County won the team race with 67 points ahead of Adams Central in runner-up (77). Sophomore Scout Bell from Gothenburg won the Class C girls 5k with a time of 19:16.4 among the 119 runners.
During the boys division, junior Landen Claussen was the top Blue Devil finisher in 72nd during a time of 18:22.8 while junior Camden Hall followed in 100th (19:15.4).
Junior Emmanuel Gonzalez did not finish following a 5:29 first mile.
Class C boys results.
Lincoln Christian edged Holdrege (44-51) in the team race. Junior Trevin Opp from Lincoln Christian was crowned Class C boys champion on the 5k course in a time of 15:59.9 among the 117 runners.
