Ten wrestlers from the coverage area will participate in next week's Nebraska State Wrestling Championships after qualifying in district action on Saturday.
In the B-3 district at Pierce, Wayne finished sixth and qualified six wrestlers for the tournament. Reece Jaqua (126) and Mike Leatherdale (285) both qualified as state runner-up, Reid Korth (170) and Cade Janke (195) finished third and Dakota Spann (182) and Martin Carrillo (220) both finished fourth.
In a very tough C-3 district action at Oakland-Craig, Quad County Northeast's Kolby Casey was the area's lone qualifiers, finishing fourth at 195 pounds. Wakefield/Allen did not get any qualifiers out of the district.
In D-2 district action at Greeley, Winside qualified three wrestlers. Cayden Ellis (113) and Gabe Escalante (138) both claimed district titles, while Art Escalante qualified as a third-place finisher at 132 pounds.
