Funeral services for Terry H. Thies, 72, of Winside will be Monday, Aug. 23 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Winside. Visitation will be Sunday, Aug. 22 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Winside. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Wayne.
Memorials may be directed in care of the Thies family for later designation.
Arrangements are with Hasemann Funeral Home of Wayne.
He died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2021 at his farm home near Winside.
Terrence Henry Thies was born May 24, 1949 in Norfolk to Arland Henry and Rose Deloris (Hoff) Thies. He attended elementary school at District #39 and Beemer High School, before graduating from Winside High School in 1967. Terry married Victoria Lynn Wade on June 8, 1968 at the United Methodist Church in Winside. Together the couple raised their children and farmed all of their married life near Winside. Terry was a former member of the Winside Volunteer Fire Department where he served as fire chief for many years. He served as president of the Northeast Nebraska Pullers for 19 years. Terry was known by many as “Grandpa”. He enjoyed farming, hunting and tractor pulling, but most of all spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Vicky; their children, Michael (Lisa) Thies of Winside, Michelle (Brian) Petzoldt of Winside and Tammy Thies of Wayne; one brother, Russell Thies of Norfolk; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arland and Deloris Thies; several aunts and uncles; and in-laws, Lyle and Leona (Meyer) Wade.
