The third time was the charm for the Wayne Country Club team, as they overcame two years as runner-up to win the 2016 NGA Interclub Championship Monday at Wild Horse Golf Club in Gothenburg.
Wayne CC won the annual championship by defeating Shadow Ridge Country Club of Omaha 17-7 in the final. It was the third straight year Wayne advanced to the championship.
In the morning semifinals, Wayne defeated defending champion Kearney Country Club, 15-9. Shadow Ridge advanced to its second straight final, defeating York Country Club, 16-8.
Wayne Country Club team members are Troy Harder, Joey Baldwin, Mike Varley, Doug Rose, Brad Hansen, Kelly Hansen, Rich Rethwisch and Kevin Peterson.
