Three-game winning streak ends for Wayne girls on road

Friday night’s Wayne girls basketball game was moved up from February 11 due to a rescheduled doubleheader from earlier in the season.

From Norfolk Catholic, the Blue Devils visited the Knights to open the weekend.

The Wayne girls suffered a 43-33 road loss at Norfolk Catholic.

In the girls only outing, Norfolk took the early 9-4 lead after the first quarter as the Knights added to their lead with a 9-8 second quarter to go up 18-12. Wayne answered with a 11-9 third quarter before the host Knights pulled away late with a 16-10 fourth. Final favored Norfolk Catholic winning 43-33 to snap a three-game losing steak improving to 4-10 as Wayne saw their three-game winning streak snapped falling to 8-8.

Unofficial scoring came from junior Haley Kramer who posted a team-high 14 points for Wayne High while fellow junior Claire Lutter added eight points.

Other scoring came from junior Elle Powicki and sophomore Addison Frank both with three points; two-point scoring came from junior Reagan McGuire, sophomore Mallory Redden and junior Lilyan Hurner as sophomore Alexis Legler scored a point.

Norfolk Catholic was led in scoring by Sidonia Wattier with 22 points as Mallory Wolf scored nine points.
