All five Wayne Herald high school volleyball teams took to their respective court for Thursday evening competition while the Wayne High softball team traveled to Wisner River Park.

From Wisner, the Blue Devil softball team used a four-run top of the fourth to win 4-3 at NEN (Pender/Wisner-Pilger).

Wayne High (16-8) will next travel to West Point for the Mid State Conference Softball Tourney hosted by GACC on Saturday, September 27. #2 WHS will open with #6 Pierce at 10 a.m. and also face #3 O'Neill around 1:30 p.m. in their pool. A final bracket game will be played around 3:15 p.m. (Bracket attached at top of article).

From Hartington, the Wayne High volleyball team joined the host Cedar Catholic along with O'Neill for a triangular.

The Blue Devils opened with a three-set victory over O'Neill (25-18, 20-25, 25-17) followed by a 2-0 loss with the host Trojans (23-25, 19-25).

Wayne High (9-8) will host the Wayne Invite on Saturday, September 27 in Wayne showcasing five teams. The Blue Devils will face Madison at 10 a.m. as matches will be on a rolling schedule. Wayne will also take on Wisner-Pilger, Archangels Catholic (Humphrey) and Summerland throughout the morning into the afternoon. (Schedule found at top of article). 

From Wynot, both Laurel-Concord-Coleridge and Wakefield competed in the Wynot volleyball triangular.

In the first match, Wakefield was swept by Wynot (14-25, 13-25); LCC swept Wakefield (25-12, 25-19) and LCC closed with a 2-0 sweep over Wynot (26-24, 26-24).

Wakefield (1-17) will next host Tri County Northeast on Monday, September 29 at 7:15 p.m.

The Bears (17-0) will travel to Tilden on Saturday, September 27 for the Elkhorn Valley Invite. LCC will open with Archbishop Bergan (Fremont) at 10 a.m. with matches on a rolling scheudle. Laurel-Concord-Coleridge will also face O'Neill and Battle Creek in pool play before closing out with one final bracket match in the aftenroon. (Schedule found at top of article). 

From Winside, the Wildcats won in straight sets against Walthill (25-8, 25-6, 25-13).

Winside (7-7) is off until Monday, September 29 visiting Pender starting at 5:30 p.m.

From Lyons, Tri County Northeast joined Winnebago for the Lyons-Decatur Northeast triangular.

The Wolfpack opened with a three-set victory against the host Cougars (20-25, 25-13, 25-23) and were swept by Winnebago (22-25, 23-25).

The Allen/Emerson-Hubbard co-op (10-2) will next travel to Wakefield on Monday, September 29 starting at 5:30 p.m.
