Tracksters see solid marks at Concordia

Wayne State men’s and women’s indoor track and field athletes put together some solid marks in action at Friday’s Concordia Invitational in Seward.

In men’s action, Cade Kalkowski posted an NCAA provisional mark with a first-place mark of 66 feet, 7 inches to highlight the men’s effort. His mark was a season’s best and remains the fifth-best throw in NCAA Div. II this season. Teammate Dylan Kaup came in third in the event with a toss of 63-1 1/2.

In the 600-meter run, Bryce Holcomb placed fourth at 1:24.13 with Nathan Pearson fifth at 1:24.71. Will McGonigal took fifth place in the 3,000-meter run (9:20.06), Bailey Peckham was fifth in the 5,000-meter run (16:03.46) and Dylan Kessler placed sixth in the 5,000-meter run at 16:16.29.

Mikhail Sands came in fifth place in the long jump with a leap of 22-5 3/4 and Aaron English placed eighth in the high jump, clearing 6-1 1/4. Preston Davis placed 10th in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.77 seconds, and Davis, Pearson and Holcomb joined Michael Kueny in a fifth-place finish in the 1,600-meter relay with a time of 3:30.97.

In women’s action, Mckenzie Scheil, Hanna Lazure and Jade Rickard each recorded second-place finishes for the Wayne State College women.

Scheil recorded a second-place finish in the weight throw (61-4 3/4) and was fifth in the shot put (44-0) while Kenzie Sullivan was fourth in the shot put (44-6) and 11thh in the weight throw (53-1 3/4).

Lazure and Ali Dykman each cleared 5-1 and tied for second in the high jump, while Rickard took second place in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 10:50.60.

Rosener placed third in the 3,000-meter run at 10:51.96 with Andrea Torres right behind in fourth at 11:04.34.

Jordyn Pester recorded a fourth place finish in the 400-meter dash (59.57) and was seventh in the 200-meter dash in 26.78 seconds.

Other top finishers for the Wildcats included Kim Johnson fifth in the 1,000-meter run (3:11.44), Mikayla Marvin sixth in the pole vault, clearing 11-2 1/2; Marin Jetensky came in seventh in the 600-meter run at 1:41.76 and Riana Noelle was 10th in the triple jump at 34-1 1/4. The Wildcat 1,600-meter relay team of Jetensky, Sophie Noecker, Johnson and Brianna Crouch came in fifth place in a time of 44:21.34.

Wayne State’s next meet is Friday at the SDSU Last Chance Invite in Brookings, S.D.
