The City of Wayne celebrated Arbor Day a few days early this year to take advantage of the nice weather.
Mayor Jill Brodersen assisted Parks & Rec Director Lowell Heggemeyer and Peyton Paulson with planting seven arborvitae shrubs behind the stage at Bressler Park last week. The planting will create a backdrop for performances in the future.
This is the 35th year Wayne has been named a Tree City USA. "Remember to plant a tree in your yard to celebrate Arbor Day. The City offers cost share for anyone wanting to plant shade trees on their property.
