Tri County League youth baseball scores for Wayne from June 18 - 23

All five of the Wayne youth baseball teams closed out their regular season for the Tri County League with tournament play getting underway June 26 - 27 for first round games. The Wayne Ponies were joined by the Wayne Bronco and Didget tournament teams (made up of Wayne Blue and White members) for one final tournament during the Mid-Summer Classic in Wakefield June 20 - 22.

Wayne White Broncos and Didgets close regular season with two wins, next up is league tourney

While Wayne Blue was on their home diamond, the Wayne White Broncos and Didgets concluded their Tri County League regular season on the road.

From North Bend on June 23, the Wayne White Broncos (8-3) won 9-2 while the Wayne White Didgets (9-2) picked up a 12-2 victory both against North Bend Black.

During the Broncos outing, Ryan Loberg singled, doubled, drove in two runs and scored twice; Maxon Judd singled twice, drove in two runs and scored twice as Braden McManigal singled, doubled, drove in two runs and scored. Sy Chase also doubled and scored.

Mason Nelson and Gage Kimmel both singled and scored; Aden Greve singled and drove in a run; Aiden Kesting accounted for a RBI as Caysen Gamble scored.

Mason Nelson (69 pitches) started the opening three innings allowing two runs off one hit while striking out five batters and walking four. Loberg (50) worked three innings allowing three hits while striking out seven batters and walking one.

In the Didgets contest, Weston Nelson singled, doubled twice, drove in five runs and scored; Lincoln Nelson singled twice, drove in two runs and scored as Baylen Biermann and Isaac McPhillips both doubled and scored.

Beckett Miller singled, drove in a run and scored twice; Wyatt Holz and Maxx Wohlers both singled, drove in a run and scored; Owen Judd accounted for a RBI as single runs came from Liam Heiser, Brett DePew, Roydaine Wolf-Gibson and Conner Fox.

Wohlers (17) started the opening inning allowing an earned run off two hits while striking out two batters.

Biermann (19) didn't record an out allowing an earned run off one hit while walking three batters. Miller (54) closed out the final five innings allowing two hits while striking out 11 batters.

Tri County League Tournament action was scheduled to begin on June 25 but was moved to June 27 where both Wayne Didget teams will compete in the Gold Division (Upper 16). #5 Wayne White will host a Friday night game at 6 p.m. against #12 West Point Aardvarks as #7 Wayne Blue will entertain #10 Tilden also at 6 p.m.

The Tri County League Bronco league tourney will begin on Thursday, June 26 with both Bronco teams competing in the Gold Division (Upper 16). #8 Wayne White will host #9 Wisner at 6:30 p.m. while #14 Wayne Blue will travel to #3 Pender Red at 6:30 p.m. both on Thursday.

Wayne Blue Broncos and Didgets split Monday games

Four youth baseball teams closed out their regular season in Tri County League play ahead of league tourney action.

From the Summer Sports Complex, the Wayne Blue Broncos and Didgets entertained Pierce White on June 23.

Wayne Blue Broncos dropped a 7-6 decision to fall to 6-5 as the Wayne Blue Didgets moved to 9-2 on the season thanks to an 8-5 victory.

In the Broncos contest, Julian Contreras doubled, tripled and drove in a run as Mason Rhods and Heath Poland both singled twice, drove in a run and scored.

Dexter McIntosh singled and drove in two runs; Bradley Hanson singled and scored; Hudson Kramer and Brody Virgil both singled; Trey Wardlow accounted for a RBI as Ayser Titiml, Harley Poland and Cohen Woehler all scored.

Contreras (79 pitches) started the opening three and two-thirds allowing seven runs (one earned) off six hits while striking out five batters and walking two. Kramer (29) worked two and a third innings allowing two hits while striking out six batters and hitting one.

During the Didgets outing, Graham Sharpe went 2-for-2 at the plate with two RBI as Mason Sharer added a two RBI double.

Emmitt Johnson picked up the win in four innings allowing two earned runs while striking out eight batters.

Wayne Ponies finish third in Wakefield, close Tri County League regular season

Sunday capped off a busy weekend for the 38th annual Lefty 'Olson' Mid-Summer Classic youth baseball tournament in Wakefield.

From Graves Park, Ponies (14u) Wayne team was in action June 20 - 22.

The Wayne Ponies played three tournament games and their final Tri County League game recently.

In Wakefield on June 21, Wayne 14u first defeated Warrior Baseball Club 13u by a score of 12-5 followed by a 10-1 loss against Nebraska Prospects that afternoon. On June 22 in the third place game, the Wayne Ponies won 10-4 over Norfolk Steel 14u.

Later Sunday evening from the Summer Sports Complex, the Wayne Ponies suffered their lone regular season league loss of 13-5 against Tekamah-Herman Purple. The Wayne Ponies are now 15-3-1 overall (10-1 league play).

For the weekend, Mason Wendte (three singles, one double, one homerun) and Noah Magnuson (two singles, two doubles, one triple) both recorded five hits. Wendte also drove in a team-high seven runs with Remyngton Rager adding three RBI. Magnuson posted a team-high six runs scored as Colston Starzl followed with five runs.

Wendte (109 pitches) pitched five and a third appearing in two games and starting one. He allowed nine earned runs off six hits while striking out five batters, walking seven and hitting two.

Merrick Miller (78) worked five innings on the weekend appearing in two games and starting one. He allowed nine runs (two earned) off seven hits while striking out, walking and hitting two batters each.

The Nebraska Prospects defeated the West Point Beaveres, 10-6 during the Pony Division finals on June 22.

The Wayne Ponies earned the #3 seed following a three-way tie for first with #1 Tekamah-Herman Purple and #2 Pender via strength of schedule and will open the Tri County League Tournament on Friday, June 27 hosting Battle Creek #2 at 6:30 p.m. First round games were moved from June 25 due to weather.

 

 

Wayne Didgets tourney team goes 1-1

Players from the Wayne White and Blue Didget Tri County League teams made one Wayne Didget 10u tournament team for another June weekend tourney.

Along with two of the older teams, the Wayne Didget tournament team competed in the 38th annual Lefty 'Olson' Mid-Summer Classic from Graves Park in Wakefield.

The Wayne Didgets began with a 6-5 victory against Logan View on June 20 before dropping a 9-6 decision to Bancroft on June 21. Wayne 10u ends their tourney season at 1-4.

For the weekend, Weston Nelson (three singles), Lincoln Nelson (two singles, one double), Wyatt Holz (three singles) and Isaac McPhillips (three singles) all recorded three hits. Holz posted a team-high three RBI as Weston Nelson and Lincoln Nelson both crossed the plate three times.

Lincoln Masters (63 pitches) pitched two and a third of the seven and a third innings starting one game. He allowed an earned run off three hits hits while striking out five batters, walking three and hitting one.

Lincoln Nelson (33 pitches) worked an inning starting one game. He allowed three earned runs off three hits while striking out one batter, walking two and hitting one.

Wakefield was crowned champion of the 10u Didget Division while Monona County won the Coach Pitch (8u) Division.

 

 

Wayne Broncos tourney team splits pool play games

For the second straight weekend, a 12u tournament team from Wayne showcased members of the Wayne White and Wayne Blue Broncos together as one.

From Graves Park in Wakefield, the Wayne Broncos played twice during the 38th annual Lefty 'Olson' Mid-Summer Classic youth baseball tournament.

The Wayne Broncos first suffered a 6-1 loss on June 20 to Vermillion followed by a 12-4 victory over Pierce Blue on June 21. Wayne 12u ends their tourney season at 4-2.

For the weekend, Mason Nelson (one single, one double), Ryan Loberg (one double, one triple), Sy Chase (one single, one triple) and Braden McManigal (one double, one homerun) all recorded two hits. Mason Nelson and McManigal each accounted for two RBI as McManigal also scored a team-high three runs.

Ayser Titiml (74 pitches) pitched three and a third of the 10 innings starting one game. He allowed six runs (four earned) off seven hits while striking out two batters, walking one and hitting two.

Gage Kimmel (54) worked two and a third starting one game. He allowed four runs (three earned) off two hits while striking out three batters, walking two and hitting two.

Vermillion was crowned champion of the 12u Bronco Division.

 

 

Wayne Ponies score season high runs

As the Tri County League tournament brackets are being finalized, the Wayne Ponies returned to road action on June 19.

From Craig, Wayne 14u took control early during a 23-3 win at Oakland-Craig. The Wayne Ponies moved to 13-1-1 overall and 10-0 in league play.

During the single weeknight outing, Liam Rockhill singled, doubled and scored twice; Colston Starzl singled three times, drove in two runs and scored four times as Kian Pick singled twice and scored twice.

Brayden Stegemann and Remyngton Rager both singled, drove in two runs and scored twice; Merrick Miller singled, drove in a run and scored twice; Easton Gamble and Dreu Jensen both singled, drove in a run and scored; Grant Reeg singled and scored; Isaiah Zarate scored twice as single runs came from Mason Wendte, Evan Greve, Clayton Koenig and Blake Heithold. 

Stegemann (27 pitches) started the opening two innings allowing one hit while striking out three batters and walking one.

Gamble (23) worked an inning striking out one batter and walking three. Rager (33) closed out the final inning allowing three earned runs off three hits while striking out and walking two batters each.

 

 

Wayne Blue Broncos double up opponent

While the Wayne Blue Didgets were able to complete their game on June 2 ahead of the rain, the Wayne Blue Broncos made up their rescheduled outing at Battle Creek #1 on June 19.

From Battle Creek, the Wayne Blue Broncos won 14-7 to improve to 6-4.

During the Broncos only outing, Julian Contreras singled, doubled, drove in a run and scored three times; Heath Poland singled three times, drove in four runs and scored; Cohen Woehler singled twice, drove in two runs and scored twice; Hudson Kramer singled twice, drove in a run and scored twice as Dexter McIntosh singled twice, drove in two runs and scored.

Ayser Titiml singled and scored as Harley Poland and Bradley Hanson both scored twice.

Kramer (44 pitches) picked up the win in three innings allowing four runs (two earned) off four hits while striking out three batters. Contreras (58) worked three innings allowing three runs (one earned) off two hits while striking out and walking five batters each.

 

 

Wayne White splits final regular season home games

With one more Tri County League regular season game to be played on the road on June 23, the Wayne White Broncos and Didgets competed on their home diamond during a June 18 doubleheader.

From the Summer Sports Complex, the Wayne White Broncos dropped a 12-11 decision falling to 7-3 while the Wayne White Didgets won 7-3 to move to 8-2.

During the Broncos outing, Braden McManigal singled, doubled, drove in a run and scored twice; Maxon Judd singled twice, drove in two runs and scored; Mason Nelson singled twice and scored three times as Ryan Loberg tripled, drove in a run and scored twice.

Aiden Kesting singled, drove in a run and scored; Isaiah Wright singled and drove in a run; Sy Chase accounted for two RBI and two runs scored as Caysen Gamble and Aden Greve both added a RBI.

Gage Kimmel (76 pitches) started the opening two and a third innings allowing six earned runs off two hits while striking out four batters, walking six and hitting one.

Gamble (74) worked an inning and two-thirds allowing five runs (four earned) while striking out four batters, walking eight and hitting one. Mason Nelson (16) closed out the final inning allowing an earned run off one hit while walking one batter.

From the Didgets contest, Brett DePew recorded a solo inside-the-park homerun, singled twice, accounted for two RBI and two runs scored as Baylen Biermann doubled, drove in a run and scored.

Wyatt Holz singled and scored; Beckett Miller singled and drove in three runs; Trexton Ocampo accounted for a RBI and run scored as single runs came from Liam Heiser and Conner Fox.

Ocampo (22 pitches) started the opening inning striking out and walking two batters each. Miller (18) followed the next inning allowing one hit while striking out two batters.

Biermann (36) worked two innings striking out five batters and walking two. Isaac McPhillips (56) pitched an inning and two-thirds allowing three earned runs off two hits while striking out four batters and walking five.

Lincoln Nelson closed out the final third of an inning striking out one batter.

 

 

Wayne Blue Didgets win solo 10u game

With one regular season game remaining for the Wayne Blue Didgets, June 11 was meant for a pair of 10u Tri County League teams.

From Emerson, the Wayne Blue Didgets visited Tri County and won their fifth straight thanks to an 11-7 victory. Wayne Blue 10u moved to 8-2 on the season.

Emmett Johnson posted a four-for-four day at the plate with two singles, two doubles and accounted for seven RBI as Casey Shultheis singled, tripled, drove in two runs and scored three times.

Ryan Magnuson picked up the win in three innings allowing one hit while striking out nine batters.

Tri County League youth baseball teams will be closing out their schedules on June 22 (Ponies) and June 23 (Didgets/Broncos) as league officials finalize tournament brackets to be posted on tricoleague.com.
