Three pitchers combined on a no-hitter for the Wayne American Legion Juniors as the North Division’s top seed opened Ralph Bishop League tournament play with an 8-0 shutout of Battle Creek Wednesday in Pierce.

Wayne did all of their damage in the fourth inning, using five hits and five walks to plate eight runs. Reid Korth started the scoring with an RBI double and scored on Blake Bartos’ single to center. Two walks and an RBI groundout by Jacob Kneifl made it 5-0, Kaleb Anderson added a bases-loaded walk, Korth brought Hagan Miller home on a sacrifice fly and Josh Lutt singled Trevor Deboer home for the final run of the inning.

Kneifl worked four innings to get the win, striking out four and allowing no hits and no walks. Drew Buck and Tyler Gilliland finished off the final inning to seal the no-hitter for the 12-11 Juniors.

Wayne will play in the North Division final on Friday at 5:30 p.m. in Battle Creek. They will play on Saturday in Wakefield, either in the 12 p.m. consolation game or the 5 p.m. championship game at Eaton Field.
