Wakefield wrestling is off and running with seven combined outings of girls and boys wrestling in six days.
The Wakefield girls were the busiest with the Tekamah-Herman Quad on Dec. 4 along with a dual tournament at Lyons-Decatur Northeast (Dec. 5), hosting NEN (Wisner-Pilger/Pender) on Dec. 8 and visited Homer (Dec. 9).
The Trojan boys began with a home dual on Dec. 4, competed at the Howells-Dodge Invite on Dec. 6 and also visited Homer.
From Tekamah, the Wakefield girls lost 33-18 to Stanton; won 48-0 over Homer and lost 54-12 against the host Tigers.
Arianna Juarez (125) picked up the lone contested win on the night
Natalee Nelson (190) won all three matches by forfeit.
The Trojans placed third in Lyons with a 42-24 loss to Fort Calhoun, lost 48-29 to O'Neill, tied Lyons-Decatur Northeast 36-36, won 36-30 over Neligh-Oakdale and closed with a 48-18 victory over NEN.
Wrestlers who went 5-0 were Jennifer Lopez (115) and Natalee Nelson (190) both with three pins as Jazmynn Scott (145/155) recorded two pins.
The Wakefield girls secured a 48-30 victory over NEN.
Picking up wins by fall were Ingrid Lopez (115), Jennifer Lopez (120), Arianna Juarez (125), Jazmynn Scott (145), Naomi Nelson (155) and Natalee Nelson (190).
In Homer, Wakefield won 48-6 with just one contested match.
The lone contested win was posted by Ingrid Lopez (115) by fall (1:42).
During boys action, Wakefield lost 50-18 against the Pendragons.
Hayden McAfee (120) picked up the lone contested win while Baldwin Garcia (106) and Ruben Vega (175) both won by forfeit.
Wakefield then finished ninth with 44.5 points among 20 teams at the Howells-Dodge Invite.
Top Trojan medalists were posted by Ruben Vega (175) with a silver medal, Baldwin Garcia (106) followed in third as Israel Garcia (126) and Lane Fischer (144) both placed fourth.
The Wakefield boys also won 30-24 at Homer on Dec. 9.
The lone contested match win in the boys dual for Wakefield was posted by Ezequiel Ramirez (190) by fall (1:01).
The Wakefield girls will next travel to the Fort Calhoun Invite on Dec. 12 (4:30 p.m.) while the Trojan boys travel to Stanton on Dec. 13 (9:30 a.m.).
