All five high school volleyball teams from the Wayne Herald coverage area were in action on Tuesday, Oct. 7.

From Albion, Wayne High suffered a three-set loss against the host Boone Central (25-21, 24-26, 17-25) followed by a 2-0 loss against Pierce (16-25, 14-25) during the Boone Central triangular.

The Blue Devils (15-10) will next visit Crofton on Thursday starting at 5 p.m. Wayne High will also host Summerland on Oct. 14.

From Hartington, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge took care of business at Hartington-Newcastle (25-11, 25-9, 25-8).

LCC (21-3) has won back-to-back and is right back in action on Thursday hosting both Howells-Dodge and Humphrey-Lindsay for a triangular starting at 5 p.m. The Bears will also be back in Hartington taking on Cedar Catholic on Oct. 14.

From Winside, the host Wildcats were victorious in five sets over Niobrara/Verdigre (17-25, 25-17, 24-26, 25-12, 16-14). 

Senior Jerzi Carlson recorded her 100th career service ace in the match.

Winside (9-8) is off until Saturday during the Hartington-Newcastle Tournament (vs. Madison at 10 a.m., vs. Bloomfield at 11 a.m. and TBD around 1 p.m.). The Wildcats will also  host both Tri County Northeast and Hartington-Newcastle on Oct. 14 starting at 5:30 p.m.

From Wakefield, the host Trojans dropped a five-set heartbreaker against Ponca (14-25, 25-21, 25-21, 16-25, 10-15).

Following their first five-set match of the season, Wakefield (1-20) is off until Oct. 14 at Elkhorn Valley starting at 5 p.m.

From Bancroft, Tri County Northeast first swept the host Panthers (26-24, 25-23) followed by a 2-0 victory over Walthill (25-6, 25-19) during the Bancroft-Rosalie triangular.

The Wolfpack (14-3) are right back in action on Thursday hosting Homer starting at 6:30 p.m. The Allen/Emerson-Hubbard co-op will also compete in the Hartington-Newcastle Tournament on Oct. 11 (vs. HNS at 9 a.m., vs. Wausa at 11 a.m. and vs. TBD around 1 p.m.) and take part in the Winside triangular with Hartington-Newcastle on Oct. 14.
