Three Wayne Herald high school volleyball programs, #9 Wayne State College volleyball and Wayne High softball closed out the month of September.

From Rice Auditorium, #9 WSC picked up a non-conference home victory over Briar Cliff (25-13, 25-6, 25-21). It marked the first match-up between the two schools since 1998.

WSC improved to 12-2 (remain 5-0 NSIC) and will next visit Winona State University on Friday at 6 p.m. before traveling to #11 Concordia-St. Paul on Saturday at 5 p.m..

From the Sandhills Youth Softball/Baseball Complex in Lincoln, the Wayne High softball team suffered an 8-7 loss in eight innings at Lincoln Pius X.

The Blue Devils (19-9) saw their seven-game winning streak snapped and will close out their regular season schedule with GACC on Thursday starting at 4:30 p.m. with JV followed by varsity around 6 p.m. This will also mark the final regular season home game for head coach Rob Sweetland in his 24th year coaching softball ahead of postseason competition.

From West Point, the Wayne High volleyball team picked up a 3-0 victory at West Point-Beemer (25-23, 27-25, 25-19).

The Blue Devils (14-8) will next host Stanton on Thursday starting at 5:30 p.m.

From Laurel, LCC suffer a loss in four sets against Pierce (20-25, 26-24, 22-25, 20-25).

Laurel-Concord-Coleridge (19-3) is right back on their home court hosting Summerland on Saturday starting at 3 p.m. 

From Allen, Tri County Northeast won in straight sets against Wynot (25-22, 25-21, 30-28).

The Wolfpack (12-2) will be back in Allen on Thursday hosting Pender starting at 5:30 p.m.
